“ A FLOWER DOES NOT THINK TO COMPARE ITSELF TO THOSE AROUND IT, IT JUST BLOOMS.”
The above quote seems so simple, yet it has such a beautiful meaning. How often do we not feel good enough or that we don’t fit in with a certain crowd, or maybe that you even must change so that you can be accepted into a specific environment? A flower does not think to compare itself with anything or anyone, it just blooms – as should we!
When last have you had a long hard look at yourself in the mirror without judging something about what you see? The next time you look in a mirror, I want you to really look at yourself. Who do you see? Do you know her? Is she familiar? Is she lost? What do you see when you look at her? The Woman staring back at you in the mirror is someone who was created for a purpose on purpose.
She is HARDWORKING yet stretched; she is LOVING yet easily hurt; she is BEAUTIFUL although she disagrees; She is LOVED yet she doubts it; SHE IS PHENOMINAL, WORTHY, SPECIAL, CHOSEN, FORGIVEN, REDEEMED, AND GOD SAYS, “SHE IS MINE”. You ARE the daughters of a KING, not just any King – The Highest King!
The time has come where we as women need to stop comparing ourselves with the person sitting next to us; she is not your competition – You are. We need to stop comparing ourselves physically, spiritually, our education, our lifestyles…the list goes on! It’s just such a waste of energy, energy that you could be pouring into that beautiful, fierce woman staring back at you in the mirror. She doesn’t need to be concerned about the opinions of others, she needs to find her worth, embrace it and in turn, help another Women do the same. We should be building each other up, not tearing each other down. Together, Let’s build a generation of Women that complement each other and mean it, a generation of Women that are genuinely there for each other, that uplift each other and pray for each other when they say they will!
There’s a beautiful quote I heard that says, “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to Blossom,” (Anais nin).
You are not defined by the view of others or their perspective of you. It is time to let go of the hurtful opinions and words of others over your lives; because the risk of holding onto it is more painful than just letting it go. It is time to show the World who you are.
Remember, we are just like flowers. When the weathering gets too much, and we start to lose our petals, all that’s happening is that we are allowing those petals to become fertilizer to our new bloom. So, if you are feeling like you just can’t take much more “weathering” in your life, now is the time to let go and once you do you will give Jesus the chance to turn yesterdays weathering into tomorrow’s fertilizer for your next season. There is such purpose in our petals, we all look different, sound different, act different – we all have different shaped petals and that is what makes us unique and beautiful in our own right. I promise you there is someone that is looking at you thinking…
“she is so beautiful”, “she is incredible”, “she is amazing!”, “she is so clever”, “I want to be just like her”
Don’t ever forget that YOU ARE who God says YOU ARE… NOT who society says you should be.
