You can (End of Story!)

You can – a very simple statement yet something that many of us can fear and struggle with.  For one person those simple words can create positivity and excitement but for another it can leave them feeling anxious and overwhelmed because where does that leave them.  The opportunities are endless.   It’s so simple to say ‘You can” but what does that look like?  Here are some practical steps to grasping the word “You can” and running with it.   

1. Spend time hearing from God

One of the most vital things is to always check it with the Lord.  Ask Him if this is what He wants you to do, if YES, then you know that you can because He can! He gives you the capacity, the tools and the endurance to go ahead.  

When you feeling overwhelmed in your journey or doubting if you can, always go back to what God has promised you. Fall back on His promises because they always remain true.  

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” NIV Ephesians 3:20.   When the world says you are not able, God says you are more than able.  God has equipped you for what He has called you to do.  He empowers you and gives you the strength you need, so you can boldly and confidently believe His got you covered every step of the way.

2. Believe you can

Tell yourself every morning when you wake up, write it on a sticky note and stick it to your wardrobe cupboard or on the bathroom mirror, set reminders on your phone once or twice a day that says you can or I believe. Whatever you need to do to motivate yourself, do it! Keep telling yourself you can and eventually your heart will begin to believe it.  Once that shift takes place, you no longer doubt yourself and can step confidently into what you want to do.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

My Story

When I have been called to step out, I have often felt inadequate and overwhelmed.  It is so easy for me to think that my dreams are too big, or that I don’t have what it takes.  I find so much comfort and relief in knowing that I don’t have to have it all. I don’t have to be perfect before I step out. God uses what I have and He uses me as I am.  In my imperfections, He is made strong.

If you walk into my bedroom you will see sticky notes on my wall.  Whenever I hear these thoughts you are not able, you cannot do this, you are not good enough, who are you to say you can do this; I write down the opposite of these thoughts and proclaim them over my heart every day until I start believing them and walking in them.  I am good enough, I am more than able, I can do this through Christ who strengthens me! 

For me saying Yes to Jesus is an easy decision; however it’s the follow through of what He laid on my heart that is not so easy.  Staying connected to Jesus and surrounding myself with like-minded people have kept me true to who I am.  It has kept me walking obediently and faithfully as I continue to say yes along the way.  

I keep reminding myself that if He has chosen me, then who am I to doubt. If He says yes to me, then I can say yes to Him and follow it through.  God will never back down from what He has called me to do.  He is with me every step of the way.  

Remember God knows who you are and He calls you as you are. BE BOLD, STEP OUT and OWN YOUR PLACE as the woman that God created you to be.
